Although Post 46 currently has no Auxillary, the Girls State program operates much the same as the Boys State program. The cost for each girl is $375.00.Applications for sponsorship will be accepted by the Post from young women. 

At American Legion Auxiliary Girls State, high school female students who have completed their junior year are competitively selected to participate in a seven-day mock government program where they learn about civics and American government in a fast-paced, interactive program of campaigning, debating, voting, and electing mock local and state leaders.

Michigan American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program is held at Shaw Hall at Michigan State University campus in Lansing Michigan.

Some notable women who have gone through the Girls State program are General Michelle Johnson, Texas Governor Ann Richards, 2003 Miss Virginia Nancy Redd, and Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenaw.

Samsung Girls State Scholorship (up to $20,000). Scholarship applications are restricted to high school juniors who attend the current session of Girls State and are a direct descendant- i.e. child, grandchild, great grandchild, etc.- or a legally adopted child of a wartime U.S. military veteran who served on active duty during at least oe of the periods of war officially designated as eligiblity date for American Legion membership
